Katie O'Connor

MS, LMFT, PMH-C, ATR, LPC

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Counselor, and Registered Art Therapist with more than 15 years of experience working with children, teens, and families. I hold a Master of Science in Art Therapy from Mount Mary University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Milwaukee's Family Therapy Training Institute. There, I developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the resilience of families in our community. This understanding now informs my practice of Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I consult with Eve Lipchik, cofounder of Solution Focused Brief Therapy to support my continuing education and enrichment in this approach.

In support of my specialization in Women's Health, I hold Postpartum Support International's Certification in Perinatal Mood Disorders. I also serve the Wisconsin State Chapter of Postpartum Support International as Secretary on the Executive Board for the State of Wisconsin. I serve Moms Mental Health Initiative, helping moms both as a trusted therapist and providing Moms Art Therapy Groups.

I recently developed a unique family program, the first Solution Focused Art Therapy group at Aurora Family Service. Provided free to families and funded by Aurora Family Service, Lumos Wellness, and community donations; Family Playtime: A Make & Take Workshop fostered community in central Milwaukee. Families enjoyed opportunities to play and spend quality time together in a supportive and creative atmosphere.

In addition to my work with individuals and families, I enjoy an ongoing relationship with The Women's Center as Art Therapist and Consultant. I have also enjoyed providing educational programs for The University of Milwaukee, Mount Mary University, Aurora Family Service, Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, The Periscope Project, Authentic Birth Center, Well Rounded Maternity Center, C.A.R.E. network, and Early Childhood Education at the Next Door foundation.
